The process of creating bespoke medals is one of craftsmanship, skill and starting with a metal mold is a step-by-step process to completion of each custom medal batch.

How are Enamelled medals made?

Firstly a design or drawing is made. Then, the drawing is input into the mold-making computer. Surfaces must be perfectly clean before starting the process. We take a blank, metal mold that needs to be cut and engraved. When the mold is correctly placed, cutting can begin. Cut out
the design, then check again that the mold is secure.

The mold is trimmed, and the design is now raised off the molds on the main surface. The mold is now heated to enhance the “Flintiness”.Then it’s cooled down and reheated again. This process will improve the mold “flintiness”.Then we use the punching machine. For this pin, copper is used. The design of the badge is cut from copper.

The pin is then cut from the copper and then re-baked. When cool, the pin design is then painted with vitreous enamel colours. It is then polished and rinsed a number of times. Once the pin clasps are fitted, the pin is complete.
