How are bespoke medals made?
Medals are made in many different ways, mainly Metal molds are used. Some are also shaped from, wood, or even stone and crystal glass medals on rare creations. They are struck from a die engraved Intaglio. This is a design impressed on the metal by pressure. The Re-pousse process means that parts of the design are raised by using special hammers.
Most are crafted from zinc alloy, copper, or brass, with a die casting process of production. This means that they start life as a mold, which is created from 3D artwork.
